ArchivePreviews begin this Sunday, January 13 Town Without Pity is returning for two encore performances in December, Mondays the 10th and 17th, 8pm at the Macha Theatre. Hailed by Backstage West as "captivating" and "heartwarming", a "scintillating musical treat that will have you humming 1960s standards all the way home," I'm excited to getting back on stage with this one. Beginning rehearsals Tuesday for Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson. Tickets on sale now. You can order them here. In an attempt to keep this home page clean and easy to navigate, all the old news archives have been moved here. Lastly, anyone who wants to share links, let's get the message out! To start: last weekend my mom and I rebuilt the Trinity Mountain Meadow Resort website. It's a BEAUTIFUL family vacation spot in Northern California where I was lucky enough to spend my summers growing up.
It seems to be the season of singing! Town Without Pity is now on hiatus, having closed its trial run last Monday to a boisterous, standing-room-only house. Next Monday night, November 19, I'll be performing in a benefit concert for the theater company, Lucid by Proxy. Click here for all the info (or click on the banner above). Also, I've been cast in the upcoming world premiere musical Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, opening in January at the Kirk Douglas Theatre. Very excited about this show! Stay tuned for more info as it gets closer. (In related news, I am now proudly in the possession of my very own Equity card. Town Without Pity got a great review from Backstage West. Two more weeks to catch this run.
Come check out Town Without Pity: The Love Songs of Gene Pitney. Having a blast singing tight four-part harmonies on a lot of great 60s pop. Running four weeks at The Lyric Theatre.
Lots of news: 1) I am excited to have moved the acting operation over to the the glick agency. Looking forward to a fruitful relationship. 2) Just returned from an amazing week in Chicago, taking part in the Johnny Mercer Power of the American Popular Song workshop at Northwestern U. An entire week of master classes focused on songwriting ending in two concerts, one on Friday, one on Saturday, featuring our original material. Amazing teachers and participants. Incredibly challenging and, wow, so inspiring. 3) Speaking of songwriting, a little over three years ago, I began work on a little musical with my friend Pam Eberhardt, which, a little over three weeks from now, will have an off-Broadway workshop at the Bleecker Street Theater. Two weeks, September 7-16, 14 performances, open to the public. It's About Time. An original musical about figuring it all out, about love, about being goofy with your friends. The script is hysterical and I'm very proud of the music. Many have contributed to bring this workshop to fruition. Check out the myspace and more importantly, come check out the show! Contact me or check back here soon for more info.
Playing the lead role in the first public reading of Hindsight, by Ross Brown. Tonight and tomorrow at the Pasadena Playhouse, this is my first time working at this landmark theater, and I'm privileged to be sharing the stage with a top-tier cast: Jane Kaczmarek, Ivar Brogger, Lisa Robinson, Paul Butcher, Maxwell Glick and Brian Lohmann. Directed by Kappy Kilburn.
Shot additional footage this weekend for Brook Hanson's USC Thesis Film, Borderless. Principal photography was in December, and we got to see the rough cut this weekend, which looks outstanding! Just returned from New York where I got to meet the cast and fellow creative crew of ...And I'll Save Ya!, book and lyrics by Pamela Eberhardt, music by myself and Ryan Scott Oliver. Footage of last month's initial public reading was incredibly exciting and great motivation to take the show into its next incarnation this summer. Pilot season has gotten off to a running start. Screen tested today for a half-hour comedy. Up against one other actor. Very exciting week of callbacks, work-sessions, contracts, and the final go today. So grateful for the opportunity, regardless of what happens next. Eric Larue opens this Saturday, October 21 at the Elephant Space Theater in Hollywood. A West Coast premiere by the VS. Theatre Company, with direction by Howard Fine. How does a community come to terms with the emotional aftermath of a school shooting? I'm taking on yet another light-hearted, jovial role (kidding), in the title character, Eric. Shooting Numb3rs this week. Episode #306, scheduled to air Friday, October 27th, 10pm, CBS.
Unfinished American Highwayscape #9 & 32 opens tonight! I'm currently knee-deep in rehearsals for the Theatre@Boston Court 's World Premiere production of Unfinished American Highwayscape #9 & 32. Very excited about working with Jessica Kubzansky (irrefutably one of the best directors around) on this challenging new work. Just returned from ten days in New York playing the lead in a staged reading of the new musical Lady on a Carousel. Chills from the cold weather but more chills from working with such first class Broadway talent. RECENT TELEVISION APPEARANCES: Las Vegas
